Location searches

Your browser sends UK postcode and place searches to Postcodes.io. International searches and submitted street addresses are sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. Opening a legacy postcode page can send the postcode shown in its URL for one map lookup. After a successful search, the location map is loaded from OpenStreetMap. Coordinates are also sent to Open-Meteo for elevation and current conditions, and to an OpenStreetMap Overpass service to find nearby mapped communications structures. UK searches can request the matching public town record from SigInfo’s MastData service. SigInfo’s first-party analytics records that a search or map lookup succeeded or failed, but does not store the postcode, place, street address or coordinates in its analytics data.

Usage measurement

SigInfo records aggregate first-party events such as search success, map availability, line-of-sight completion, official-checker clicks, optional-context use and commercial-link clicks. These records contain the event, page, broad site country and placement name. They do not contain your email address, full postcode, search text, coordinates, referrer or browser user-agent. Raw daily event totals are retained for operational analysis.

Advertising

The results page can load an advertisement from AADS after a successful search. The advertising provider may process device or network information under its own terms. Browser controls or content blockers can prevent it from loading.

Affiliate links

Some equipment links contain the Amazon Associates tag siginfo-22. Amazon may record a referral when you follow one. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Line-of-sight tool

The map is loaded from OpenStreetMap. The coordinates for points A and B are sent to Open-Meteo when you request a terrain profile. SigInfo records only whether the calculation succeeded, not the selected coordinates.

Email and contact

If you email SigInfo, the message and address are used to respond. The redesigned UK coverage page does not request an email address or subscribe visitors to alerts.

Your choices

You can use the official coverage links without submitting a location search. You can block third-party content through your browser. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
